Randy Johnson is a Broadway Director and published playwright. His work has been seen on Broadway and London’s West End, Off-Broadway, at regional theatres across the United States and Canada, Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall, The Grand Ole Opry, The Ryman Auditorium, and Wembley Arena, O2 Arena in the United Kingdom. Randy made his Broadway debut as a Director and Playwright with the critically acclaimed musical, A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN at the Lyceum Theatre. Prior to the Broadway engagement, A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN successfully toured the country for years beginning with a world premiere at Portland Center Stage and moving on to Cleveland Playhouse, Arena Stage in Washington DC, Pasadena Playhouse, Milwaukee Rep, Zach Theatre in Austin, and San Jose Repertory Theatre. The show broke all box office records at every venue and was the highest grossing production in the history of the Pasadena Playhouse and Arena Stage. Other notable credits include directing the historic ELVIS THE CONCERT which reunited Elvis’ original band and singers, writing and directing the world premiere production of MIKE TYSON – THE UNDISPUTED TRUTH at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand, and originally producing ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE from its inception to its historic run in Nashville, TN. Randy was nominated for Best Director of a Musical for the 2014 NAACP Theatre Awards for his work on A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN. He is a recipient of the 2014 DC Metro Theatre Arts – Best of the Best as the Director for his work on SMOKEY JOES CAFE at Arena Stage, and the Crystal Apple Award for his work with AIDS Project Los Angeles. Randy is a graduate of the University of Southern California and a proud member of SDC - Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, The Dramatists Guild, and Canadian Actors Equity (Directing Division).
